Diane Mathison, nickname Elssa, has been playing piano and organ for over 35 years and has developed a unique style of playing and teaching that focuses on the popular cocktail piano style that everyone loves. She majored in music in college and has studied with top classical and jazz teachers for many years. She taught groups and private lessons, as well as in piano and organ stores.
Based on her experiences, she has put together innovative videos which help people learn to express their passion for music in real ways by learning real techniques that can be used in a free style to create their own amazing musical arrangements. With her videos, she shares in great detail all the beautiful and exciting runs and fills, chord progressions, left-hand accompaniment techniques, and much more which she uses in her performances and recordings.
She welcomes the opportunity to share all this with those who are tired of just sight reading and playing the usual uninspiring arrangements from books and who wish to develop their own wonderful style, gain a fuller and richer understanding of harmony and all aspects of music in the process.
Elssa lives in upstate New York with her cat Gwen, who occasionally likes to add a couple of finishing notes to Elssa's recordings.
